The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, international organizations and non-governmental partners. IOM is committed to the principle that humane and orderly migration benefits migrants and society.
Established in 1951, IOM currently has 146 Member States, and a further 98 States hold Observer Status along with numerous international and non-governmental organizations. IOM acts with its partners in the international community to:
- Uphold the human dignity and well-being of migrants
- Assist in meeting the growing operational challenges of migration management
- Advance understanding of migration issues
- Encourage social and economic development through migration
In Jordan, IOM works with the Jordanian Government to assist migrants in need, promote migrants’ rights, and respond to growing migration management challenges.
